To the Voters of Pembroke and Chichester:
Rep. Richard Marple of Hooksett recently patted himself on the back for having a 93.4 percent rating and an “A” from the Liberty Alliance, and praised Rep. JR Hoell for his 100 percent rating (Monitor letters, July 28).
Interestingly, Rep. Brian Seaworth of Merrimack District 20 (Pembroke and Chichester) also has a 100 percent rating and an “A+” score. Contrarily, Rep. Dianne Schuett has an 11.6 percent rating and Rep. David Doherty has a 13.4 percent rating. Both are considered “CT,” the lowest score on an A to CT scale. This means the Liberty Alliance views them as “threats to the Constitution.”
Let’s be clear what the Liberty Alliance represents. It advocates political positions and voting on the ultra-right, positions favored by the so-called “Freedom Alliance” and Free Staters. Reps. Schuett and Doherty are as proud of their low ratings from the Freedom Alliance as Rep. Marple is of his high rating.
Here are some examples of high priority legislative votes dictated by the Liberty Alliance:
Senate Bill 12, repealing the licensing requirement for carrying a concealed pistol or revolver. FOR
SB 8, relative to school attendance in towns with no public schools. (Croydon bill that enables certain public school monies to be siphoned off to private schools.) FOR
SB 191, establishing the kindergarten initiative development support grant program. AGAINST
SB 10, relative to dairy farmer relief. AGAINST
HB 94, prohibiting certain defenses in prostitution and human trafficking cases. AGAINST
SB 11, prohibiting collective bargaining agreements that require employees to join or contribute to a labor union (right-to-work). FOR
Please understand that these men are not the Republicans I have supported in the past. Their real purpose is to dismantle government. They are against many institutions that we the people of New Hampshire have found important and valuable to keep us safe and to maintain our quality of life.
These are some of the issues voters should keep in mind as we approach the 2018 election cycle.
