A kick-off event to the grant-funded program Get Alarmed New Hampshire will be held today at 2 p.m. at 203 Salisbury Road in Franklin, hosted by the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s office. The event, geared toward seniors and children, will include a demonstration of how the program works and an opportunity for attendees to receive free carbon monoxide and smoke alarms, paired with education around fire safety. Speakers will include State Fire Marshal J. William Degnan, Franklin fire Chief Kevin LaChapelle, representatives of the American Red Cross, other designated-community recipients, partners, and fire service representatives. Fire Marshal Degnan recommends everyone have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes maintaining smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, residential sprinklers, and planning and practicing a home fire escape plan. Smoke alarms and CO alarms save lives! For questions or more information, contact Mary MacCaffrie at 223-4289.
