Estate tax facts

Thank you, Bob Wells, for explaining that only the families of the extraordinarily wealthy and the super rich (such as the Trump family) will benefit from the Republicans’ proposed repeal of the estate tax (Monitor Forum, Oct. 6). And that this repeal would deprive the nation of billions of dollars of needed revenue.

This revenue is critical during this time of wars around the world, repeated natural disasters, needed health care and infrastructure funding.

Those super rich who will benefit are the big donors and supporters of Republican politicians who do their bidding in exchange for campaign contributions.

Those who will be hurt are regular, hard-working American families.
