Youth hockey

The CYHA Concord Orthopedics Bantam 2 team defeated Andover, Mass., 6-3, on Tuesday night. Marshall Reedenauer scored two goals, Ben Bourgault and Donovan Hayes each had a goal and an assist, and Quinten Piccolo and Owen Jones each scored a goal. Jonathan McDonald and Nate Mullen were strong on defense, and Kalan Gaudreault and Aiden Miller both played well in net.

JV results

The Merrimack Valley JV girls’ basketball team defeated Laconia, 31-10. Emily Koufos led MV with six points while Sadie Barton chipped in five. Taylor Bailey (3 blocks) and Sadie Merrow (5 rebounds) led the defense.

The Merrimack Valley JV boys’ basketball team defeated Bow, 51-43. Caleb Heath led MV with 16 points and Dylan Campbell scored 13, including key free throws to seal the game. MV improved to 3-0.

The Hopkinton JV girls’ basketball team defeated Fall Mountain, 43-36. The Hawks held Fall Mountain to two points in the fourth quarter and improved to 6-0. Taylor Clark led the way with nine points. Maddi Bishop, Fiona Beane and Bree Hamilton each chipped in eight points. The Hawks face Raymond on the road Friday.

UNH result

The University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team fell to UMBC, 71-67, in their conference opener. Tanner Leissner recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

Plymouth State results

The Plymouth State University women’s basketball team fell to Lyndon State, 67-58. Concord’s Debra Morrill pulled down seven rebounds and scored eight points. Cassidy Emerson, also of Concord, contributed 28 minutes off the bench and scored five points with five rebounds.

The Plymouth State University men’s basketball team defeated Lyndon State, 91-73.

Monarchs result

The Manchester Monarchs fell to the Adirondack Thunder in overtime, 4-3. The Thunder (18-14-1-1) battled back from a two-goal deficit in the second period to defeat the Monarchs (21-11-1-1).

Tryouts/Registrations

Lakes Region Flag Football is accepting registrations for its winter indoor flag football league at the Tilton Sports Center starting in January. There will be coed divisions for ages 8-10 and 11-14 (players’ ages as of Monday). Games are played on Saturday afternoons beginning Jan. 13 and run until March 31. Games for the 8-10 division will be played at 11 a.m., noon or 1 p.m. and 11-14 division games will be at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. Season will start with a combine, one week of practice, six weeks of regular season games, playoffs and a Super Bowl. FieldHouse Sports in Bow is accepting team and individual registrations for the next 12-week session of youth and adult indoor soccer leagues. Games begin Jan. 16 to Jan. 28 depending on age group. Concord Crush Learn to Play lacrosse clinics will be held this winter. This will be a co-ed clinic for players in grades 1-4. Pine Hill XC Ski Area will open Robb’s Warming Hut opens for the season on Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m. and will offer snacks and hot drinks. The Annual Pancake Brunch will take place at Robb’s Hut on Feb. 24 from noon to 2 p.m.

Annual Amy Annis Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for Sunday and will begin at 11 a.m. at both the Gilford Middle School and High School gymnasiums. The fundraising event is a fun, recreational co-ed tournament for high school age students through adults. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research, as well as the Amy Annis Scholarship Fund, which is given annually to a graduating senior.
