A labor of love

I want to thank the Monitor’s Geoff Forester for braving the cold to cover the Hopkinton Conservation Commission and the Recreation Department’s First Day Hike (Monitor Local & State, Jan. 2).

Restoration of the Kimball Lake Log Cabins began several years ago, with the selectmen appointing a Kimball Lake Cabin Committee. Since then, numerous volunteers have been involved in making the countless repairs to the “big cabin” and its immediate grounds.

None of the restoration work would have been possible without many folks donating time, skills, monies and materials. Both the Kimball Lake Cabins and the Kimball Pond summer swimming area are due to the generosity of the late Harold Kimball and family.

The restoration of the Kimball Lake Cabins continues to be a community effort that is helping restore this scenic historic site just off the Main Street in Hopkinton Village.
