JV results

The Concord High JV wrestling team placed second at the JV state tournament in Timberlane. The Tide gathered 93 points while first-place Timberlane won the meet with 112. For Concord, Alec Galatis won the state title at 152 pounds. Tristan Sharich also was crowned champion at 195 pounds. Keith McFetridge (2nd place, 106 pounds), Rovannee Nickson (2nd, 113), Evan Berube (2nd, 132), Sam Lantz (2nd, 160), Ricky Naya (3rd, 113), Hunter Anderson (3rd, 126), Tommy Sargent (3rd, 132), Cortland Miller (3rd, 132), Peter Sargent (3rd, 160), Joseph Gimaranzi (3rd, 182), Dalton Barrett (4th, 120), and Niyo Tuyisenge (4th, 145) also wrestled well.

Youth basketball

The Concord Boys and Girls Club seventh- and eighth-grade B team defeated Londonderry, 43-40. Liam Dooley led Concord with 24 points. Chris Grimbilas played a strong defensive game in the second half to help preserve the win. Henry Smalley chipped in with eight points and Max Leahy had seven.

The Concord Boys & Girls Club seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ basketball team defeated Hollis-Brookline, 51-25. Isabella Rivera scored 22 points with seven steals and six rebounds. Elizabeth Blinn recorded 11 points with 11 rebounds, while Tara Sullivan chipped in six points and pulled down 11 boards. Hannah Capsalis (five points) and Martina Pike (four points) contributed scoring. Libbey Hicks made five steals and Lauren Anzalone played strong defense. Concord improved to 18-3.

In fifth- and sixth-grade boys’ basketball, Bow K defeated Hillsboro Red, 28-6. Aidan McMahon led Bow with 16 points, Patrick Walton scored six, Jonathan Gancarz scored four, and Brady Lambrou scored two points. Bow improved to 7-0.

In third- and fourth-grade boys’ Suburban League basketball, Bow fell to Bedford, 42-29. Bow (27-7) was led by Jake Readon (10 points), followed by Peyton Larrabee (eight points), Brendan O’Keeffe (six points), and Kyle Cimis (four points). Tommy Tsouros led the team in rebounds and Gavin Buxton made several steals.

St. Paul’s result

The St. Paul’s School varsity girls’ hockey team shut out Pomfret, 6-0. Bridget Babcock and Grace Martin each had a pair of goals.

UNH results

The University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team defeated Sacred Heart, 14-2, in the Wildcats’ season opener on Saturday. Catherine Sexton led UNH with a career-high six points, including a pair of goals. Krissy Schafer also had set a career-high with five goals for five points.

The UNH ski team placed fourth at the Dartmouth Carnival. Emma Woodhouse led the Wildcats with her 10th-place finish in the women’s slalom at Dartmouth Skiway.

Plymouth State results

The Plymouth State women’s hockey team erased a two-goal deficit to beat Salve Regina University, 3-2. The Panthers improved to 8-13-4, 7-5-2 in NEHC play.

Colby-Sawyer results

The Colby-Sawyer women’s basketball team defeated New England College, 65-50. Colby-Sawyer improved to 18-5 overall, 13-3 in NAC play. NEC is 13-10, 8-8 in the conference.

The Colby-Sawyer men’s basketball team fell to New England College, 82-79. Bishop Brady graduate Jourdain Bell led Colby-Sawyer with 21 points. Franklin’s Dana Bean added 17 points and registered four blocks for the Chargers (14-8, 11-5 NAC). NEC improved to 17-6, 13-3 NAC.

Central Force Basketball is holding tryouts for its girls’ team on March 10 at Belmont High School and March 11 at Belmont Middle School. Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race registration runs Monday-Feb. 26. Entrants in the race, a grueling 7.6 miles up New Hampshire’s famously steep and scenic Mt. Washington Auto Road, are chosen by a lottery, accessible at mtwashingtonautoroad.com/mount-washington-road-race. Lottery registration opens on Monday at 8 a.m. and closes on Feb. 26 at 11:59 p.m. Following the close of registration for the lottery, a computer randomly selects the runners who will be entered in the race. The entry fee, charged to those who are selected, is $95. Notification of acceptance or rejection by the lottery will be sent via email to each applicant on March 1. This year’s race will take place on June 16 with a 9 a.m. start.

Cap City Basketball AAU tryouts will be held on Feb. 24 and March 11 for boys and girls in grades 2-10. Players must attend tryouts on all three dates.
