Winter is loosening its grip on the region as warmer temperatures move in this week. Temperatures around Concord are expected to be in the mid-40s Wednesday and near 50 degrees Thursday.

The weekend is expected to be sunny and warm, as well.

Cold nights and warm days are a recipe for sap to start flowing from maple trees, as Valentine’s Day is viewed as the unofficial start to maple syrup season.

Ice fishing and skiing are still safe bets for winter fun, despite the warm weather.
