The city of Concord has issued an early winter storm event parking ban for Wednesday night.

The ban means no parking on any city streets will be allowed starting at midnight Wednesday night until 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

The warning comes ahead of this weekโ€™s storm, which is expected to begin about 8 a.m. Wednesday and continue through Thursday. The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, predicted that Concord could see 8 to 10 inches of snow by Thursday night.

The ban is noticeably earlier than previous winter parking bans this season.

Typically, the city has announced parking bans the day snow is expected to make sure said weather is actually going to happen and residentsโ€™ lives are not unnecessarily disrupted by a parking ban. City policies dictate that a ban must be called no later than 4 p.m. on the day before its enactment.

Parking is free in the cityโ€™s garages from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, regardless of weather.
