The voice service of Comcast Business went down early Thursday afternoon, leaving thousands of businesses and government offices across the country without telephone service.
Philadelphia-based Comcast did not give a reason for the outage, which was first reported some time after noon.
As of 2 p.m., the cable giant did not provide a specific reason for the problem or when it might be solved.
Its national outage map showed problems throughout the country, including in the Concord area.
