The Concord Post 21 Senior Legion baseball team kept its title hopes alive on Sunday with a 1-0 blanking of Derry Post 9 during the American Senior Legion State Tournament at Gill Stadium.
Eric Sullivan provided a gutsy effort for Concord, dealing a complete-game shutout to protect the narrow lead.
Concord advances to take on Merrimack Post 98 on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Merrimack knocked out Laconia on Sunday, 10-0, and already defeated Concord, 3-0, on the first day of the tournament. A win against Merrimack would set up a semifinal game against Lebanon Post 22 later on at 7 p.m.
Needing a win to avoid elimination, Laconia Post 1 fell behind by three runs early and couldn’t make up the ground against Merrimack.
Laconia finishes the season at 7-11.
