A Webster man who loved the Patriots, golfing and spending time with his wife and two children was killed by a hit-and-run driver while bicycling in North Carolina, loved ones said.

Jeffrey Scot Masingill, 52, was biking in Monroe, N.C., the afternoon of Saturday, July 21 when he was struck by a vehicle that then took off, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Masingill was airlifted to a hospital where he later died, police said.

Authorities have not released more information about the driver who hit Masingill, but a $25,000 reward for information about the incident is being offered by the Union County Crime Stoppers, an organization that works to incentivize reporting crimes to law enforcement.

Masingill had a long career as an executive in the aerospace manufacturing industry, and was most recently the president of Aires Alliance in Monroe, according to his obituary.

โ€œHe was exceptionally well-liked by everyone who crossed his path. He carried an abundance of positive energy and will be remembered as a great mentor with genuine passion for his relationships,โ€ the obituary reads.

Masingill was born in Ohio and later lived in New Jersey and New York. He received his masterโ€™s degree from the University of New Hampshire and moved to Webster in 2015 to be closer to family.

Masingillโ€™s obituary says that he enjoyed golf, hiking, soccer, biking, visiting local breweries and reading. He was an avid Patriots and Ohio State football fan.
