The most important right Americans have is the right to vote, and fair elections to go along with that right. All other rights are dependent on it.
However, in recent years, the GOP has been busy gerrymandering to achieve an electoral advantage. It’s worked in my district, which has not seen a Democrat elected since before redistricting. But their shenanigans have become more nefarious.
Last week the Supreme Court sided with the state, using our tax dollars, to implement a law to suppress the vote in the upcoming elections. The main argument for suppression is voter fraud.
Trump, after his 2016 victory, claimed that thousands from Massachusetts were bused into New Hampshire, which made the difference in his defeat in this state. Notably, Gov. Chris Sununu endorsed this unsubstantiated claim and stated that Democrats are “busing them in all over the place.” Subsequently, an exhaustive investigation proved otherwise. Undeterred by the truth, the state pursued the lie and has successfully suppressed the vote.
Any impartial individual knows by now that Donald Trump is, as Ted Cruz once stated, a pathological liar. Documentation of his lies is ubiquitous. But he’s not on the ballot. Gov. Sununu is, however, and needs to be held responsible for lying in order to achieve an unfair electoral advantage.
If you believe in the truth and still care about our democracy, you will join me on Nov. 6 in voting to replace him with someone who can be trusted to the state’s highest office.
