Concord Chamber events

Holiday Business After Hours with the Chamber and CYPN tonight from 5:30 to 7 p.m., hosted by The Duprey Companies at Grappone Conference Center, 70 Constitution Ave. Chamber members cost $7 in advance or $10 at the door, or may donate six non-perishable food items for the Capital Region Food Programโ€™s Holiday Food Basket Project. Concord โ€˜Iโ€™m College Boundโ€™

During November, New Hampshireโ€™s 2018 โ€œI Am College Bound/I Appliedโ€ initiative assisted 1,672 N.H. high school seniors at 42 public high schools on their path to post-secondary education by helping them submit 4,442 college applications. More than 86 percent of the applications submitted were for New Hampshire colleges and universities. All of New Hampshireโ€™s colleges and universities waived application fees, saving participating students and families in excess of $125,000. In addition, each high school received one $500 college scholarship to be raffled and awarded to a participating student.

Concord Grant awarded to Kimball Jenkins

Kimball Jenkins, a prominent Concord landmark, has received a $202,000 matching grant award from the N.H. Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) to support restoring the roof and upper woodwork of its 1882 brick High Victorian Gothic mansion. Restoration work is expected to begin in the spring of 2020.

ConcordVaughn award nominations

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announces that the N.H. State Committee on Aging and EngAGING N.H. are now accepting nominations for the 57th Annual Joseph D. Vaughan Award. The Vaughan awards recognize individuals over the age of 60 from each of New Hampshireโ€™s 10 counties for their excellence in leadership and voluntary service that have positively impacted the lives of older residents across the state. Award recipients will be honored during a ceremony in the Executive Council Chambers at the State House on May 6. AndoverThird Friday performance

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21, Hiroya Tsukamoto will bring his โ€œabstract, imagistic compositionsโ€ to center stage at the Highland Lake Grange Hall, 7 Chase Hill Road, East Andover. Admission is free, although donations โ€“ which are shared with the performers and the Andover Community Church, owner of the Grange Hall โ€“ are gratefully accepted. Also appearing onstage will be up to a dozen open-microphone performers, whose contributions in previous months have ranged from the spoken word to show-business, jazz, folk, bluegrass, and country-and-western tunes. Doors to the Grange Hall open at 6 p.m. for food purchases offered by the Andover Community Church, and for open-mic sign-ins on a first-come, first-serve basis.

ConcordJingle Bell Run

The Concord Jingle Bell Run will be Dec. 16 at Rundlett Middle School, 144 South St. Register now at JBR.org/Concord for $35 or on the day of the race for $40.
