Barbara Francis, a member of the Penobscot Nation, recently held a beading class for the third-grade students at the Dunbarton Elementary School.
In honor of Native American Heritage Month in November, teachers Mollie Morrisette and Lois Wickow help students research different tribes throughout the country, took them to visit the Mt. Kearsage Indian Museum and set up interactions with local Native Americans.
Francis was born and raised in a reservation on Indian Island in the Penobscot River, northeast of Bangor, Maine. Sheโs skilled in tribal arts and is also a master basket maker who currently resides in Goffstown.
