Middle school hoops champs

The Bow Memorial School girls’ basketball team won the Bow Ho Ho Holiday Tournament by defeating Jaffrey/Rindge in the semifinals, 50-15, and Plymouth in the championship game, 80-52. Offensively, the Lady Wildcats were led by Ellie Pingree (16 points, eight rebounds per game), Alex Larrabee (12 points, nine rebounds per game), Kate Labrecque (10 points per game) and Lyndsey LaPerle (nine points per game). Sabrina Bernard played well on the boards and Catherine Windsor had several steals. Bow is undefeated so far this season.

JV results

Concord High’s JV wrestlers competed at the Windham JV Tournament and had five individual winners: Keith McFetridge, Kaevryel Madison, Khan Amiri, Kody Rashed and Abbas Abdulrahman. Brady Pickard, David Bean, Tommy Sargent, Dan Rosales, Cortland Miller, Jaycee Haskell and Joe Streeter were second in their respective divisions. Anthony Fusco, Logan Keene and Hunter Jeffers placed third, while Odeyi Kizungu, Logan Mayo, Ethan Rearick and Griffin Watts finished fourth.

Youth hockey results

The Professional Firefighters of Concord Local 1045 Concord Capitals Bantam 3 team lost to Revere, Mass., 3-0, but defeated Oyster River, 5-1. Jaden Gangwer, Jack Allen (two goals), Brady Ziegler and Finn Brown scored against Oyster River, while Gabe Carr, Logan Daigle, Brown, Matthew Tetreault and Flynn Schneider had assists.

College standout

Franklin’s Dana Bean scored 17 points and was the Colby-Sawyer men’s basketball team’s top scorer in a 93-69 loss to Endicott, the Chargers’ first game in the Salem State Holiday Classic. Colby-Sawyer plays the host Vikings on Sunday in the next round.

Camps/Clinics/Lessons

Plymouth State University softball team will host five clinics this winter. The first is on Jan. 27 and will feature special guest coaches Dick Blood and Harold Sachs. Blood, who recorded 606 wins and five Ivy League titles during his tenure as head coach at Cornell University, will lead a hitting clinic from 9-11 a.m. Sachs, who led Salem High School to a record 18 state championships and accumulated nearly 600 wins before becoming the pitching coach at Merrimack College, will direct a pitching clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The four other clinics will all be in Feb. 3, 9, 17 and 23. These sessions will be led by Plymouth State coaches and players and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All clinics will take place in Bank of New Hampshire Field House on the Plymouth State campus. Events

Public ice skating at the Douglas N. Everett Arena in Concord will continue for the season through March 12. Skating hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $5 (kids under age three are free) and skate rentals are available if needed for an additional $5. Cash or check accepted. Adult stick practice (ages 14 and up) will also be returning for the season through March 11. Practice hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-11:20 a.m. Admission is $10. Helmet and gloves are required and full equipment is recommended. Practice hours will be from 3:30-4:45 p.m. on Friday afternoons. Admission is $10. Full equipment is required.

Adult drop-in basketball hosted by Concord Parks and Recreation for players 18 and older will be at the Green Street gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 8-10 p.m., and at the new Community Center Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-noon. Fee is $3 for residents (with ID) and $4 for non-residents.

Annual Capital Area Holiday Basketball Tournament at NHTI will run through Sunday at the Goldie Crocker Wellness Center on the campus of NHTI, Concord’s Community College. The championship games will be played on Sunday with the girls (John Stark vs. Bishop Brady) tipping off at 1 p.m., followed by the boys’ game (Concord vs. Pembroke) at 3 p.m. Championship tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Concord Parks and Recreation youth basketball registration for boys and girls ages 4-6 and students in grades 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 is now open. Residents and non-residents are eligible for these programs, which run from Jan. 11-Feb. 16. There are also boys’ and girls’ programs for grades 9-12 for Concord and Penacook residents who are not eligible for their school team.
