‘Parenting Across the Life Span’

What: Linda Powers discusses parenting techniques as ways to nurture current and future generations. She outlines theories of social and emotional development, the importance of mental health during pregnancy, how heredity and environment contribute to temperament, how to improve a toddler’s speech through verbal interactions, the power of play and pretend, ways to help children understand right versus wrong, and how to navigate interactions with adult children.

Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra

What: Italian maestro Filippo Ciabatti will direct the 60 member Dartmouth Symphony in a performance of all Beethoven works. The piano soloist for Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto No. 5 is Sally Pinkas, the college’s artist-in-residence. The program also includes the “Coriolan Overture” and the crowning piece is “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor.”
