Congratulations to Zandra Rice Hawkins for winning a special election to represent Ward 10. When she was walking the neighborhood to ask for votes, I was worried about her falling into one of the deep potholes on Shawmut Street and coming out on the opposite side of the Earth, just southwest of Perth, Australia. Seriously, look it up on an antipode map. It’s much warmer there and their road crews don’t have to battle the winter elements like our valiant men and women do. Now that she won, I would ask her to fulfill her campaign promise of making it the “No. 1” issue for her constituents.
