I am a lifetime NRA member and have been for more than 60 years. I served two terms in the N.H. House of Representatives.
During that time, the NRA listed me as a “C+” because I didn’t support every one of their bills.
I do not believe in “feel good” laws that do nothing to protect the public and only inconvenience law-abiding citizens. I do object to military types of guns and large-capacity magazines. Also, bump stocks make a gun into a machine gun, which is against the law already.
The late president George H.W. Bush belonged to the NRA while in office. He objected to some action being taken by the NRA and resigned his membership. That was wrong. If you disagree with something, stay in there and contest it.
I belong to the N.H. Firearms Coalition. That organization is well run and watches out for our right to bear arms. In January, I sent in my check to renew my membership, plus a small additional contribution. In return I received my 2019 membership card and a decal. It pictures cross rifles, a muzzleloader and an AK-47.
I wrote them on Feb. 12 objecting to the use of a picture of a gun whose main purpose is to kill people. It is now March. I have not received a reply.
I will not resign from the organization. I will continue to object.
