JV results

The Hopkinton JV girls’ lacrosse team posted a dominant performance in a 12-2 victory over Bow. Ana Miller made six saves in goals for the Hawks (5-1), who received scoring from 10 different players. Milena Bedtke, Brooklyn Tanuvasa, Talia Despres, Louise Bishop, Emily Nestler, Madeline Maughn, Francie Trafton, Audrey Homan, Bree Hamilton and Olivia Cressy all scored. Izzy Holmes played a strong game defensively.

■AJ Detone gave up just one hit with eight strikeouts over six innings as the John Stark JV baseball team defeated Sanborn, 12-1. Nate Tower (two RBI, three runs) and Cam Bergeron each had four hits. Jason Crean added to the offense with two RBI and two runs.

■Jonah Wachter enjoyed a dominant performance on the mound, leading the Concord JV baseball team to a 3-0 win over Manchester Memorial. Wachter struck out 15 batters over seven innings and also drove in a run at the plate. Shea Morgan (two hits, RBI) and Jarrad Willette (RBI) also made an impact at the plate.

Freshmen results

Dylan Miles had two hits, Ryan Philbrick added a double and the Concord freshmen baseball team defeated Portsmouth, 7-6. Isaiah Robles, Hunter St. Hilaire, Declan Adams and Karl Surmanis all had one hit apiece. Philbrick provided the Tide with four innings on the mound, striking out two before Robles and Jack Reynolds came on in relief to close out the contest.

Capital Area softball

The CNE Outdoor Sports Center majors softball team picked up a 10-9 win over Suncook South Main. Emerson Hamel pitched well, with Carlee LePage, Ava Tyler and Natalia Dube all playing well in the field for Suncook. For CNE, Mogan Kittredge was solid in her pitching debut. Katie Blinn led the way at the plate with a double and Anya Kendziora drove in the game-winning run.

St. Paul’s news

Daryle Banfield, a 2015 graduate of St. Paul’s School in Concord, signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears earlier this week. Banfield, a native of Bronx, N.Y., played four years at Brown University as a defensive tackle. Prior to that he spent four years with the Big Red in Concord where he was an offensive guard and defensive tackle.

■The St. Paul’s boys’ tennis team knocked off Dexter, 7-0.

Tilton results

The Tilton School boys’ lacrosse team dropped its third straight game, falling to Hyde School, 10-8.

■Jax Budgell had three hits and John Woernle drove in two runs but the Tilton School baseball team fell to Phillips Exeter, 10-2. Gavin Kiley and Andrew Nordman both chipped in with doubles.

Boys’ volleyball

The Coe-Brown boys’ volleyball team lost to Salem on Wednesday, 3-0. Ray Lapiekjo carried the Bears with 15 assists, while Derek Capo added eight kills with two blocks. Albert Lapiekjo chipped in with four kills.

Golf results

The pairing of Wil and Marc Boucher won Thursday’s two ball, best ball event at Concord Country Club with a score of 59.

College standouts

Plymouth State senior Veronyca Daniels (Concord) took home Offensive Player of the Year honors, as well as All-LEC First Team recognition when the Little East Conference announced its major awards winners Thursday. Daniels is the second straight Panther to capture the Offensive Player of the Year honor and finished the season with 46 goals and 17 assists. For her career, Daniels piled up 118 points, which ranks 24th all-time.

■Southern New Hampshire University senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett) fired a 5-under 67 at the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on Thursday to lead the field, while the SNHU men’s golf team is tied for second overall, just two shots off the pace at Totteridge Golf Club.

Youth baseball

The Bow Police Lake Monsters defeated the Concord Pediatrics Raptors. Brady Anderson led Bow, while Clayton Nadzan and Blake Crowell pitched hitless innings. For the Raptors, Jacob Filkins and Troy Konstantakos led the way offensively. Nate McKee had some solid pitching.

■Concord’s Rowley Agency defeated Concord’s Banks, 5-2. Brady Peterson led Rowley with two hits and three RBI, while Theo Schneible pitched a no-hitter through five innings and Traevon Ling was solid defensively. For Banks, Issac Vaillancourt and Griffin Norwalt both pitched well.

Players needed

Concord Coed Softball League is seeking female players for the upcoming season. The league is looking for women at least 18 years of age who have previous softball experience. The CCSL, in its 27th year, features 16 teams that play about 18 games per season. Lady Wildcat Golf Outing, hosted by the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team, will be held at Breakfast Hill Golf Club in Greenland on May 17. The golf outing kicks off at 8:15 a.m. with registration and check in followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch will be served at 3 p.m. with the awards presentation and raffle winners to follow. 15th annual Black Fly Blitz 5K, sponsored by the Wilmot Community Association (WCA), will start at 9 a.m. on May 27. Moose Mountains Trail Race will take place on June 1 at 307 Applebee Road in Milton Mills. The 10K trail race starts at 9 a.m. and traverses a loop course of woods roads appropriate for both seasoned and beginning trail runners. It will be followed by a 1K Kids Race at 10 a.m. The 10K race registration fee is $25 in advance or $35 on race day. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each gender and 10-year age groups, as well as to overall winners. University of New Hampshire field hockey team will be holding two summer camps. Session 1 of the summer camp will be June 30-July 3 and Session 2 will be July 25-28. The summer camp sessions are open to junior high and high school students as of fall 2019. Players of all skill levels are welcome. Each session includes four days of field hockey instruction and a full evening program. The overnight option includes three meals daily and housing in a UNH residence hall. Pass Set Crush volleyball camp is available for girls entering grades 7-9 in the fall of 2019. This is an overnight adventure camp with a concentration in volleyball. Concord Post 21 American Legion baseball tryouts are scheduled for May 19 at the Concord Sports Center from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Players between the ages of 16-19 who attend Concord, Merrimack Valley, Bow, Pittsfield, Pembroke, Bishop Brady, Concord Christian, St. Paul’s, and Hopkinton high schools, or any player who lives in the Concord area, may attend. Weare Post 65 Senior and Junior Legion baseball will hold tryouts on June 2 from 5-7 p.m. at John Stark Regional High School in Weare. The summer season runs mid-June to the end of July. Juniors could slide into the first week of August. There are team fees, but they will be minimal. Senior program (19U) schools include Goffstown, John Stark and Hillsboro-Deering. If you attend a private school in and live in one of these districts, you are also eligible. Senior team home games are played at St. Anselm College and and the senior team will participate in two showcase events. Concord Crew Summer Learn to Row registration is open. The program provides the perfect opportunity to try out a new sport and make new friends. No previous experience is needed and it isn’t physically intense. The bulk of each day will be learning the basics of rowing and teamwork while out on the Merrimack River with coaches. Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb registration is open. Cyclists who wish to compete in this historic bike race to the summit of the highest peak in the northeastern United States can sign up at mwarbh.org. This event is the only opportunity to cycle the Auto Road which is otherwise closed to bicycles. Registration starts at $150 plus fundraising. Entrants may also participate in the Practice Ride, held on July 14. The Practice Ride is limited to 300 participants. the Hillclimb begins at the base of the 7.6-mile Mt. New England Wolves U16 full-season hockey team, coached by former NCAA hockey player Greg Lenti, will include 2-3 practices on ice per week, skill sessions all fall with the Wolves EHL Jr. coaches and director of player development Tim Kunes, competition in the NEPHL and United Tier 1 League, use of Wolves video room and JR Facilities, two workouts a week (minimum) and use of synthetic ice at Wolves training center (465 Province Rd. in Laconia).
