■The road agent, the select board and Epsom Conservation Commission thank all who participated in roadside clean up in honor of Earth Day. One family picked up 40 bags of litter on North Road. The average collected per participant was four bags, a total of 80 bags of litter was recorded.
■The Youth Fishing Derby will be June 1 from 8 to 11 a.m. at 251 Center Hill Road. The derby is sponsored by Evergreen Lodge 53 IOOF and Post 112 American Legion. This also coincides with Fish N.H. Free Day so after 11:30 a.m. adults can fish without a license. We stock more than 300 trout in the pond and traditionally the youth catch 60 to 90 during the derby. The remaining trout are fair game to the public throughout the year.
■Story times at the Epsom Library will take place Mondays at 10 a.m., Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.

■Don’t miss the annual Elwood O. Wells American Legion Post 112 Memorial Day Celebration at 1044 Short Falls Road on May 27, to honor all veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Services at outlying cemeteries include a bugler, prayers to remember the fallen, gun salutes, and flowers starting at 7:15 a.m. at the New Rye Cemetery, proceeding to the Center Hill Cemetery, and the McClary Cemetery. Indoor services at the Post begin about 9:30 a.m. Military selections will be performed by the famous Epsom Town Band. There will be presentations of awards for essay contest winners from Epsom and Chichester schools. An honored guest will speak. Then we will form a parade to the river and then on to the Short Falls cemetery, to honor our fallen comrades. Finally, we will adjourn back to the Post to enjoy a free hot dog lunch.
