I don’t know why anyone would plant a Confederate flag in a big vegetable garden. Maybe the owner came from the South. Removing flags, statues or any other symbol of history because it offends someone is crazy.
We have plenty of history, some of it very good and some of it not so good. It needs to be seen and studied, as it is a huge part of the fabric of our great country – imperfect, for sure, but still great. But that is the rub, is it not? Destroy it all, along with free speech and expression, and replace it with fantasyland stories because it makes someone uncomfortable. Well, guess what? Life is not all touchy-feely good, so deal with it.
As far as the Confederate flag goes, it’s a strange place for it but it does not bother me at all. What does concern me is that the constitutional rights of citizens to express free speech, etc., are slowly, drip by drip, eroding away, right under our noses and no one seems to care. This is the real story.
