The owners of Live and Let Live Farm, an animal rescue and sanctuary in Chichester, were named landowners of the year by the state Division of Parks & Recreation Bureau of Trails.
Gerard and Teresa Paradis received the award in June for their work on the snowmobile trails that pass through their Chichester property.
As the farm’s animal rescue operation has grown – they currently have more than 80 animals – Gerard moved the snowmobile trail to a new location, a job which included building new bridges for the path. The farm also keeps a spot for the trail groomer to stay plugged in during the winter, and they cover the electricity costs themselves.
Gerard was an original member of the Plausawa Valley Snow Putters Club in the 1970s.
“They are truly wonderful people and they want to ensure that others can enjoy themselves,” said Chris Gamache, chief of the Bureau of Trails. “They made this decision easier for me this year and it was an honor to meet with them and present this award to them.”
