Visitors driving into Boscawen in the coming months will notice colorful additions to the town signs featuring New Hampshire seasonal favorites such as blueberries, corn, pumpkins and maple syrup.
The Boscawen Agricultural Commission is renovating the welcoming signs at each entry point to town with a message that says, “We support local agriculture” and adding a sign honoring the crop of the season, commission member John Porter said.
“We thought this was something to spruce up the sign and alert people of what was coming next,” Porter said.
The signs, colored according to the fruit, were made by the New Hampshire State Prison sign shop, Porter said. They are attached to each of Boscawen’s five town signs by metal hooks.
“A lot of people don’t think about what’s coming next, if they aren’t in the business,” Porter said. “This will make people stop and think, ‘Oh, it’s blueberry season. We’ve got to be looking at getting some blueberries.’ ”
