Talk about burying the lead. Tuesday’s print edition has another story about the alleged issues in the county attorney’s office that largely regurgitates the information from prior stories, with the only new information being a letter from the Board of County Commissioners that dodges any responsibility.

Meanwhile, below the fold, we find out that three days ago Merrimack County Sheriff Scott Hilliard was arrested for “aggravated driving while intoxicated.” Where has the Monitor been on that story? Did the reporters all take the weekend off? Is the Monitor now putting the Saturday, Sunday and Monday editions to bed on Friday morning? Why did the county commissioners decline to comment on that arrest?

I have no personal knowledge of either “story,” but it seems interesting to me that the law firm that was identified as representing Sheriff Hilliard is the same law firm representing Jennifer Adams in her lawsuit against the county. Perhaps an intrepid reporter might consider looking at that angle.
