■The Penacook Village Association will hold a community meeting to discuss workforce, Section 8, low income, and other housing options on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m., in the Merrimack Valley High School library. CATCH, N.H. Housing Authority, Concord’s City Manager Tom Aspell, and others will speak about housing options in Penacook and Concord. The PVA recognized a need to inform residents about these options and for the community to be able to ask questions about projects slated for Penacook. Visit penacook.org.

EAST SIDE ‘Not Just Clothing’ drive

■Concord Grange 322 resumed their monthly meetings with Agnes Ellis elected to a three-year term on the Executive Committee. Grange Master Dick Patten and Debbie Patten will be delegates to the annual N.H. State Grange session Oct. 17-19 at the Fireside Inn, West Lebanon. Lecturer Gary Ford was appointed webmaster for Concord Grange. The next meeting will be Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the IBEW Hall, 48 Airport Road. ■The Epilepsy Foundation and East Congregational Church are working together on a “Not Just Clothing” drive! Many clean and dry fabric items qualify, including clothing, uniforms, costumes, linens, towels, drapes/curtains, sheets, tablecloths, cloth napkins, blankets, bedspreads, comforters, shoes, cloth tote bags and pocketbooks. All items must be clean and in very good condition, with no repairs needed. Donations can be dropped off at any time in the orange bin at the top of the ramp on the south side of the church at 51 Mountain Road. Please bring donations in plastic bags. ■The Kiwanis Club of Concord will meet Sept. 10 at noon at the Red Blazer Restaurant on Manchester Street. The club also meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the same location.

■There will be no trash and recycling collected Monday due to the holiday. All routes will be moved one day forward to conclude on Saturday with Friday’s route.

■The Women’s Club of Concord, 44 Pleasant St., will be celebrating its 125th anniversary open house Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. History of the house will be recounted by formersenator Sylvia Larsen, and state historic preservation officer Nadine Miller.

■The Concord Kiwanis 34th Annual Antique & Classic Car Show will be held on Saturday at NHTI Concord’s Community College. There will be 21 classes of vehicles with trophies awarded. Kiwanis food will be available, 50/50 raffle, giant 100 item raffle and vendors. Show cars cost $15 with goody bags. Admission for spectators is $3, free for children, and parking is free but please no pets. ■ConcordTV will be rolling out the red carpet for creative videographers, age 9 to 14, and all their fans on Saturday at 10 a.m. sharp at Red River Theatres! This is the fourth annual Youth Film Festival of ConcordTV Video Camp and promises to be the biggest and most exciting one yet! Almost 60 campers have participated in the last year writing, directing, acting and editing in over 25 short videos that will premiere on Red Rivers’ big screen. The very special event includes interviews on the red carpet, poster signing, welcoming remarks, fun auction of posters and movie props plus awards in over 15 categories including “audience favorite.” Seating is limited; advance purchase is recommended. ■Each year, tens of thousands of people fall prey to the trap of addiction in America. In 2017 alone, we saw over 70,000 drug overdose-related deaths. That’s 70,000 people with families who loved them; who had their own hopes and dreams; who matter. They believe that’s 70,000 too many lives that were cut short. A local church is going to do something about it. On Labor Day, Next Level Church will be hosting several Run For The One 5K races throughout the state. In an effort to release people from the grip of addiction, all of the proceeds will benefit ddiction recovery partners in each community. It happens here at 8 a.m. at Rollins Park.
