Dynamic play from Emily DeSorbo, Evie Hopper and Carissa Muller helped the Hopkinton Middle School field hockey team defeat Conant, 6-1, at George Park. Anika Hudek-Hall delivered another solid performance in goal for the Hawks.
โ Henniker Community Schoolโs Isabel Korbet paced the cross country team by finishing seventh in a meet against Weare, Chichester and Kearsarge. Alexis Korbet and Caitlin Wasserman also had strong finishes, while the boysโ team was led by Seth Marquardt (fourth overall), Alex Keirstead (fifth) and Austin Patenaude (eighth).
โ Sarah Chodosh scored the lone goal, but got plenty of help from Katie Brown, Lizz Holmes and Greta Baker as the Hopkinton Middle School girlsโ soccer team beat Raymond, 1-0.
โ The Rundlett Middle School boysโ A soccer team fell to Mountain View, 5-2. Both Andrew Hunton and Ben Hughes scored in the second half, while Gabriel Zinkin and Tanner Parizo worked hard on defense. Matt Jenness and Theodore Schneible split time in goal for Rundlett.
Quinn Whitehead scored twice to spark the Hopkinton boysโ JV soccer team to a 4-0 win over Winnisquam. Ethan Molnar and Ryan Brown handled the rest of the scoring, while Ryan Graham added two assists and Rory Campbell chipped in with one.
The Tilton School boysโ JV soccer team picked up another win, this time on the road against Vermont Academy, 3-1. Matt Beraldi got the scoring started for Tilton before Nik Larsen tallied a goal in the second half to put the Rams ahead, 2-1. Tony Liang put the contest out of reach with a great shot off a long run for Tiltonโs final goal.

New Hampshire Tackles Hunger, organized by the New Hampshire Food Bank and WMUR-TV sportscaster Jamie Staton, are once again teaming up to help fight hunger during the high school football season. Fans are asked to bring canned food to specific games this fall as part of the state-wide food drive. On Saturday, Concord High will hold its food drive during the home game against Goffstown, and on that same day Bishop Brady will also be hosting its food drive during its game against Franklin. The Hillsboro-Deering-Hopkinton drive will be during its Oct. 5 home game against Lebanon. Pembroke Academy will also hold its drive on Oct. 5 for the game against Bow. John Stark rounds out the local drives on Oct. 11 for its game in Weare against Pembroke.
Merrimack Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame will be inducting its second class on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The inductees include Kevin OโBrien, Dave Huckins and the 1989 Merrimack Valley boysโ basketball team. The public is welcome to attend.
Merrimack Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame golf tournament will be held on Oct. 12 at Loudon Country Club. The cost is $400 per foursome, which includes 18 holes of golf, cart, post-tournament meal and pre-tournament coffee and muffins.
New Hampshire Legends of Hockey 17th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Luncheon will be on Oct. 20 at the Grappone Conference Center, in Concord at 11:30 a.m. This yearโs Hall of Fame inductees include Denis Martin, Freddy Meyer and Deron Quint who are being inducted as players; longtime New England College bench boss Tom Carroll is being inducted as a coach; Rod Ross is being inducted in the media category; and the late Downing Potter โDPโ Brown is being inducted posthumously as a builder. Ben Smith will be the keynote speaker. The hockey history of the Alpine Club, which competed in the Granite State Hockey League in the early to mid 60s will also be recognized. Co-ed Field Hockey Skills clinics are being offered at FieldHouse Sports in Bow. Beginners are encouraged. Next session begins Oct. 17 for grades 3-6. Soccer Skills and Goalkeeper clinics at FieldHouse Sports Indoor Facility in Bow are now open for registration. The six-week clinics are directed by Jorge Pardo of Caramba Soccer Camps and begin Nov. 4. Clinics are for all abilities, ages 6-60 and meet Monday afternoons. CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Championship tryouts will be held on Friday and Oct. 5 at Sullivan Arena on St. Anselmโs College campus. The game will be held on March 13, 2020 at SNHU Arena in Manchester between police officers and firefighters from across the region to raise money for Childrenโs Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD). Fire tryouts will be from 4-5 p.m. on Sept. 21, 7:45-8:45 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 2-3 p.m. on Oct. 5. Police tryouts at 5:15-6:15 p.m. on Saturday, 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 3:15-4:15 p.m. on Oct. 5. All interested skaters must register for tryouts and bring their own equipment, water, and necessary gear. Additional information and registration is available at CHaDHockey.org. Tune-up Basketball League in Meredith is open for registrations for boys and girls in grades 6-10. The league is open to players from area towns and space is limited.
