ON SUNDAY, contributor Bonnie Christie wrote about her “watershed moment” regarding the changing climate, which occurred on an oppressively hot summer day in New Hampshire. Many people have arrived at such a watershed, which is defined as “an event or period marking a turning point in a course of action or state of affairs,” about a variety of issues. For example, medical diagnoses or tragic events have moved people first toward greater awareness and then action. Now we see them raising money for breast cancer research or fighting for stricter gun laws. In an effort to collect some of these stories, our question of the week is this: What was your watershed moment for the issue you are most passionate about? Email your response by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to letters@cmonitor.com. Please keep it between 150 and 400 words, and include an address and phone number for verification. We’ll run a selection in next Thursday’s Forum section.
