D-III field hockey tournament

No. 3 Bishop Brady 1, No. 6 Gilford 0

Key players: Bishop Brady – Libbey Hicks (G), Julie Blais (4 saves) Raelyn Roberts (defense), Samantha Weir (defense), Michaella Savary (defense), Kathryn Weed (defense), Ashlyn Toupin (defense), Riley Marsh (defense)

Highlights: Hicks kept her stick on the ball and took a great shot to put the Giants on the board 19:06 into the first half. Brady did not have a single corner in the first half and only three in the second, while Gilford had 11 total. One of those corners came with six seconds remaining in the game and it had to be taken after the clock runs out. Another foul was committed by Brady within that corner so another corner was awarded and the defensive unit came up big. Brady advances to the semifinals where it will take on No. 2 Newfound.

Coach’s quote: “I said to them before they took the field, ‘You are stronger together than you are apart.’ All season it has been told to them that we attack as a team of 10 and defend as a team of 11 and that could not be more true today. I am so proud of this team and that their journey continues to the semis.” – Brady’s Kelly Owen

Records: Bishop Brady 14-2-0; Gilford 12-4-0
