I cannot let a good deed go unmentioned. The story is a long one involving a beloved dog and the searching of neighbors to find her in the dark, during rush hour, and in cold winter weather. It has a happy ending, and it is partially due to the team effort of the St. Paul’s School security staff and their unwavering help through four grueling hours and into the following day.

I can keep it simple: The school gives back to the community in so many ways, many of which go unnoticed. Instead of bad press, I am writing with high praise and the best press because as a neighbor for over 3½ decades and a person who uses their property regularly for recreation, I am so grateful for their support when I badly needed it. The various people who helped were courteous, caring and eager to resolve a potentially horrible situation.

All of us are lucky to have SPS in our city for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is their open access for all residents and nonresidents. I welcome the opportunity to make my huge debt of gratitude public.
