CHICHESTERCelebrate the season

■Today, the Chichester Historical Society Winter Fest for all ages will be held at the Historical Museum on Main Street from  2 to 4 p.m. If the weather is bad, call 798-3151 for an update.

■On Monday, the library is the place to play Mahjong at 2:30 p.m. Even if you never played before, stop by and see if it is a game you are interested in learning.

■The Chichester Photo Group will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the library.

■The Chichester Historical Society will meet Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the museum. 

■Pre-school story hour at the library starts at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

■The select board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the town hall.

■The library hosts the Knitting Group on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Come, bring a project or just join in the group project.

■Toddler Time at the library will be Thursday at 10:45 a.m.There is a story, free play and fun for the little ones.

■The Old Home Day Committee will meet Friday at 6 p.m. at the town office. Stop in and see if you want to be part of this wonderful, annual town event!

■Absentee ballots available at the town office. You can also register to run for an office until Friday.

■Make a Valentine for a Veteran anytime the library is open. Supplies are on the main table. 

■Call or stop in the library to register for a free Valentine’s Day Stitching Card class. Register to save yourself spot at 798-5613.

■If you are in need of a good book for the cold winter days, the library bookstore is open whenever the library is open except during story hours. Paperbacks are $0.25; hardcover $0.50 or as marked. DVDs are on sale for $0.50 each! New books are added to the shelves every week!

EPSOMRun for office

■Interested in running for an Epsom board or committee? File with the town clerk during regular office hours until Friday.

■The board of selectman will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at the town offices.

■Epsom deliberative session will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ECS.

■February’s school board meeting on Feb. 4 will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the deliberative session in the gym at 6:30 p.m.

■All eighth grade students need to be paid in full by Friday for the Washington, D.C., trip.

■At the library, Angel Has Fallen, which Maria Salas of Dish Network calls “exciting, 100% pure adrenaline,” is the choice for Wednesday matinee movie. Show begins at 1:30 p.m. Story time will be Monday at 10 a.m., Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Toddler time will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. Lego club will meet Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Bridge is played Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. Knitter group will meet  Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. For games, Mahjong is Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m., cribbage is Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., and Chess is Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Beginners are welcome to all groups.

■Bone Builders will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday at the library.

■American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive at the library Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Please call 1-800-733-2767 or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter EPSOM to schedule an appointment. There is such a need, please take the time and donate!

■Mixed media artist Jo Donoghue Decenzo will be exhibiting her work at the library now until Feb. 22.

■The 8th annual ECS Soup/Chili off will be Feb. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. At the end of the evening, winners from each of three categories will be announced and will receive a coveted Souper Bowl Trophy. First place will also receive a $50 Visa gift card. Ribbons will be awarded to two People’s Choice recipients from each category. Admission is $8 adults, $6 children; tickets will be sold at the door while supplies last.

■The Pittsfield Food Pantry would like to thank everyone that donated food and/or money this year. It is greatly appreciated.

■The planning for the PHS All Class Reunion in July 2020 has begun. We are looking for one member from each class to act as the key contact person, to contact their own classmates and inform them about the reunion. ■The town has a winter parking ban on town roads through April 15 of each year. This ban prohibits parking in or on the town’s roads or rights of way between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The town has the right to ticket or tow violators. The purpose of this parking ban is to allow the winter or inclement weather maintenance crews unobstructed routes for snow removal and ice control, to maintain the maximum effectiveness of their efforts.

■Declarations of candidacy for town office positions are open until Friday at 5 p.m. You may file at the office of the town clerk at the Town Hall, 85 Main St., during regular business hours. The office will remain open until 5 p.m. on Jan. 31. The declaration forms will also be available to download from the town website. The following offices are open select board, moderator, supervisor of the checklist, town treasurer, trustee of trust funds, library trustee, cemetery trustee, planning board and zoning board. The following school offices are open: school board member and school district treasurer.

■There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup to warm the tummy and nothing like friends to lift the spirits on a cold night! “Soup’s On” offers that opportunity. It is a time where community members can gather for a meal and fellowship. Every fourth Monday through the winter from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. your choice of several hearty soups, bread, and beverage will be served. The only cost is your love offering. ■The Suncook Valley Area Lions Club will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Main Street Grill and Bar.
