A Jan. 22 letter on school prayer commented on Darwin’s theory of evolution. In a world that is billions of years old, where evolution takes millions of years, and where extensive and carefully researched science has shown that evolution is a fact, it is sad that someone still contests it.
It is like those who still say the Earth is flat because it looks flat, or claim that climate science is a myth because it snowed today. Such ideas only display ignorance.
If we want to teach ignorance in school, then we will pay the price. We might as well revert to being baboons.
Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, but they are not correct if they are ignorant of science. Education and science is critical in rooting out ignorance.
