Unified basketball

The Concord High Crimson Tide unified basketball team outlasted Pembroke Academy 32-28. Alex Turan (eight points), Riley Weeks (eight points) and Anders Hindley (six points) led the Tide. Connor Qualey had a great defensive effort in the win.

JV result

The Hopkinton JV boysโ€™ basketball team dropped a close one to Belmont 43-49. John Despres kept Hopkinton in it late in the fourth quarter with two clutch 3-pointers. Ryan Graham also provided a defensive spark off the bench in the second half.

Middle school results

The Rundlett Middle School girlsโ€™ basketball team moved on to the Tri-County League Division I Championship after a 58-30 win over Woodbury School of Salem. Aidah Smalley (five steals) led the offense with 20 points. Whitney Valliant (10 points) and Delaney Duford (11 points) played an all around great games. Morgan Casey (four points) and Sofia Payne (six points) controlled the glass with six rebounds each.

โ– Colby Boissy ignited a strong defensive effort as the No. 2 Hopkinton boysโ€™ basketball team advanced to the Tri-County League Division III championship with a 51-29 win over No. 3 Sanborn. Will Tanuvasa, Vincent Louca, Noah Aframe, Abram Standefer and Nolan Staples-Roy led the Hawksโ€™ offense.

โ– The Hopkinton girlsโ€™ basketball team lost to World Academy in the semifinals of the Tri-County League Division III playoffs 58-41. The Hawks were led by 13 points from Lizz Holmes, 10 points from Reese Bove and strong play from Katie Brown, Sydney Westover and Kennedy Mark. The Hawks finished the season 11-4.

Plymouth State result

Weareโ€™s Autumn Nelson a freshman on the Plymouth State womenโ€™s basketball team (4-14) recorded her first career double-double, but Pine Manor College (5-9) was able to stave off a late run, and the Panthers lost 56-47. Plymouth State trailed 45-32 with 4:53 remaining, but the Panthers were able to rally. Nelsonโ€™s runner in the lane pulled PSU to within seven, 49-42, with 1:34 to go. Nelson also hit a free throw with 36 seconds left on the clock to pull the Panthers to within three, 50-47, but Pine Manor relied on clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to hold on for the win.

St. Paulโ€™s result

The St. Paulโ€™s School girlsโ€™ varsity hockey team defeated Northfield Mount Hermon 7-0. Tiffany Hill led the attack with a hat trick and an assist. Natalie Tulchinsky, Ashlyn Garnett and Lila Trussell also scored for the Big Red. Kristina Allard had a playmaker, while Gaby Roy and Jade Arnone had two assists each. Abby Matusovich earned the shutout in goal.

Tilton result

The Tilton School JV girlsโ€™ basketball team defeated Berwick Academy 43-16. Alex Garside had 11 points for the Rams. Liv DeMatos had 10 points and Caitlin Connelly scored nine.

Hoops for Hunger

The Hopkinton High School and Hillsboro-Deering High School girlsโ€™ basketball programs are partnering up for Hoops for Hunger at Mondayโ€™s games. Show your support by wearing Hawaiian apparell to the game as well as donating food to those in need. Bring non-perishable food items to the JV game at 5 p.m. or the varsity game at 6:30 p.m. Both games are at Hillsboro-Deering High School.

Womenโ€™s Lacrosse Coaching Clinic is being offered by the Plymouth State University womenโ€™s lacrosse program and head coach Sandy Bridgeman on Feb. 16 at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House at ALLWell North. The coaching clinic is designed for high school and club coaches and includes two separate sessions on the same day. Interested coaches have the option of attending both sessions at a discounted rate. Session One โ€“ Essential Skills, Drills and Concepts โ€“ will run from 9:30-11:50 a.m. and costs $50 per person. Session Two โ€“ Next Level Skills, Drills and Concepts โ€“ will run from noon-2:30 p.m. and is also $50 per person. Attending both sessions costs $90 per person. Bridgeman, now in her 23rd year as a college coach, and the Plymouth State coaching staff will work with coaches in the classroom and provide on-field demonstrations covering topics including goalkeeping, mastering the draw and offensive and defensive team concepts. Panther Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 5-12 will be led by Plymouth State University womenโ€™s volleyball head coach Joan Forge this summer July 27-30 at PSUโ€™s Foley Gymnasium. The camp is broken into two sections: Section one is open to girls entering grades 5-8 and is designed for beginner to intermediate players. Athletes will learn basic fundamental skills, rules and strategies to be successful in the sport of volleyball from 9 a.m.-noon each day. Section two is for girls entering grades 9-12 and is for beginner, intermediate and advanced players who want to play and excel at the high school level. Attendees will be challenged with improving basic fundamental skills and will have the opportunity to learn more advanced strategies, position-specific skills, transition and concepts of team play. Section two meets from 1-5 p.m. The main focuses of both sessions will be to incorporate life lessons including character development, teamwork and sportsmanship. Drills and daily scrimmages are aimed at developing the complete player. Athletes will be separated into courts according to skill level to both challenge and maximize their learning experiences. The fee for section one of the camp is $150, while section two fees are $200. Registration fees include a camp tee shirt. Events

4th Down and 4 (Miles) road race will be held on Super Bowl Sunday, at 11 a.m. at Delta Dental 2 in Concord. This race is a fundraiser for NHTI cross country teams and features light refreshments, age group awards and a large raffle. Contact pseagroves@ccsnh.edu.

Douglas N. Everett Arena has public skating hours Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Sundays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, children age 3 and under are free. Skate rentals are also available for an additional $5. Cash or check only, but an ATM is available in the lobby. The Everett Arena also has adult stick practice (ages 14 and up) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10-11:20 a.m. Admission is $10 (goalies have free entry). Helmet and gloves are required and full equipment is recommended. The stick practice hours end on March 9 and the other public skating hours end March 13. Concord Parks & Recreation is also offering ice skating lessons with session two starting in January and continuing through February. Classes have limited registration.
