A portion of Interstate 93 in Concord was shut down for more than an hour Friday following a multi-vehicle crash, just north of exit 16.

New Hampshire State Police said a 2006 Ford dump truck driven by Scott Marcotte, 27, of Tilton rear-ended a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, which was towing a 12-foot U-Haul trailer. As a result of the impact, the Silverado was pushed forward into the rear of a 2017 FedEx box truck. Police cited Marcottee for following too closely.

Two people were taken by ambulance to Concord Hospital for โ€œsuspected minor injuries,โ€ police said.

Traffic on I-93 was slow Friday morning as a result of tree clearing operations by the stateโ€™s Department of Transportation near exit 17. Police said it was during the traffic congestion that the crash occurred.

Police responded to the scene at about 11:45 a.m. Upon their arrival, they observed three vehicles with extensive damage that could not easily be moved out of the travel lanes. As a result, that portion of the highway was shut down for an hour and then restricted to one lane of travel for an additional hour, police said.

Concord firefighters and Merrimack County deputy sheriffs assisted state police at the scene.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the crash to contact Trooper Matthew Gagnon at 223-4381.
