A Concord man remains incarcerated after police say he broke into a home Friday night in Dunbarton.
Kerry Whittier, 57, faces a felony count of burglary in connection with the incident on Gile Hill Road. Police have also charged him with criminal trespassing, possession of methamphetamine and breach of bail. At the time of his arrest Friday, Whittier was free on bail conditions for three separate criminal trespass offenses and one breach of bail charge in New Hampshire.
Whittier was arraigned Monday afternoon in Merrimack County Superior Court in Concord, where a judge ordered him detained for lack of $3,500 bail.
Dunbarton police responded to a residence on Gile Hill Road on Friday at about 9:51 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowners arrived at the residence to find a stranger had gained access to their garage and parked a vehicle inside of it in an attempt to avoid detection, police said. While they awaited police, the homeowners were able to prevent the suspect from leaving.
The case remains under investigation.
A dispositional conference is scheduled for March 9 in Concord.
