Town meeting was short and sweet in Salisbury, where one contested race for the planning board was the only source of contention.
In that race, incumbent Anne Ross-Raymand, with 91 votes, and alternate Joseph Schmidl, 90 votes, were elected to three-year positions, ousting incumbent Stacia Eastman, with 58 votes.
The entire meeting lasted slightly over an hour, with all warrants passing by floor votes.
Voters approved a town operating budget of $1.23 million, a decrease of $49,627 or about 3.9% from last year counting in capital reserve expenditures. Town Administrator April Rollins was not expecting much change to the townโs portion of the tax rate, which was $4.94 per $1,000 assessed property value in 2019.
The sole zoning amendment will bring the town in line with state law to move flood plain development regulations from building codes to the zoning ordinances.
In other business, the town had 12 warrants regarding changes for additions to various capital reserve funds or expendable trust funds, which collect money from year to year to offset occasional large purchases such as vehicles, building repairs, land acquisition, or equipment such as defibrillators or cisterns.
