Spring leaf collection in the city of Concord is going ahead as scheduled.
Spring leaf collection begins on Monday and will continue for six weeks in coordination with trash collection, city officials said. Concord residents with curbside trash and recycling collection can participate by placing leaves in biodegradable yard waste bags or rigid containers labeled “leaves.” Containers of leaves must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on residents’ scheduled trash collection day to be picked up.
Leaves piled at the curb will not be accepted – those are only collected during fall leaf collection. Only leaves that are bagged or contained in a rigid container will be collected. Leaves packed in plastic bags will not be accepted. The last day will be Saturday, May 30. The last week of collection will be delayed by one day with no trash or leaf collection on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.
Residents can also bring leaves to the city’s earth materials recycling center at 10 Intervale Road, which is the location of Gelinas Excavation. Drop-off is free with proof of residency if the amount is smaller than a pickup truck load. Residents will be required to empty contents at the facility to confirm loads are free of any unacceptable debris. Any container, bag or miscellaneous item used to transport leaves to the earth recycling center must be taken back with the resident.
Gelinas Excavation and the earth materials recycling center’s hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with additional hours on Saturdays during leaf collection through May 30. The facility will be closed for Memorial Day weekend. Hours are weather dependent and are subject to change. City officials advise calling in advance for specific drop-off times at (603) 545-4835.
