Concord police are investigating a report from a lone female driver who says men appearing to be construction workers assaulted her Wednesday afternoon on Hoit Road.

Deputy Chief John Thomas said police confirmed that there were in fact construction workers in the area between Hoit Road march and Tallant Road at the time of the alleged assault. However, authorities have not ruled out the possibility that people may have been posing as construction workers on site.

“We can’t rule anything out at this point,” he said.

On Wednesday at approximately 3:45 p.m., the female motorist called police to report that she was driving on Hoit Road roughly half an hour earlier when she was assaulted by two to three construction workers. She said the individuals were wearing reflective vests and appeared to be performing work in the area.

Thomas told the Monitor Thursday morning that the woman reported being assaulted inside her vehicle. He said he does not believe that she required any medical treatment.

According to the woman, a motorist driving behind her witnessed the incident.

The Concord Police Department is asking anyone with information to call the station at 225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100.
