Leadership Lakes Region is now accepting applications for its next class which begins in October. The Leadership Lakes Region program, modeled after the Leadership N.H. Program, is designed to educate and inform area individuals about the numerous issues at work in the Lakes Region and to foster a climate of greater volunteerism among its graduates. The program consists of eight sessions held one day a month from October to May. Each of the eight program days educates the participant on what is happening in our area and the challenges and successes that are faced through site visits and discussion with the community leaders involved.Program coordinator Jennifer McLean said that 385 area professionals have graduated from the leadership program since 1997, and anyone interested in learning more should visit leadershiplakesregion.org, info@leadershiplakesregion.org and 393-9116. Sarah Stewart Taylor visits Gibson’s Bookstore virtually on July 8 at 7 p.m. to present her new mystery novel, “The Mountains Wild,” inspired by the actual disappearance of an American woman in Ireland in the the mid-90s, while Sarah herself was living in Dublin. “The Mountains Wild” is the first in a new series about Maggie D’arcy, an American homicide detective in Ireland.
