Americans are the most heavily propagandized nation on the planet, as demonstrated again by the anonymously sourced and fact-free revelation about Russia supposedly paying bounties to the Taliban for killing Americans.

Our media’s long record of uncritical acceptance of such “intelligence” warrants a high degree of skepticism about this latest revelation. Per the New York Times report: “The intelligence assessment is said to be based at least in part on interrogations of captured Afghan militants and criminals.” We know that “interrogators” are good at getting the answers they want. And the fact this tidbit likely came via the Afghan government, filtered through the CIA, at the very moment the U.S. was intending to withdraw forces from Afghanistan and perhaps Germany should give the reader pause.

Timely events happen and suspect intelligence surfaces whenever peace threatens to break out. After Trump’s failed talks with North Korea, we learned that Bolton and Pompeo sabotaged them. After Trump raised the possibility of leaving Syria, there was a gas attack in Douma, which we now know was a false flag event, as OPCW whistleblowers have documented.

Intelligence agencies lie as a matter of course. Ours does it blatantly, and with no pushback, as we learned about with the Iraq war, in which intelligence was fixed around a predetermined policy. Reagan CIA director William Casey famously said in 1981: “We’ll know when our disinformation program is complete, when everything the American people believe is false.” Somewhere, the ghost of William Casey is probably smiling.
