As a state representative I have witnessed how the lack of funds is a recurring obstacle to much of the proposed legislation that is designed to address the needs of New Hampshire citizens. Sadly, the Democratic Party establishment has once again chosen to underestimate the wisdom of voters and endorsed candidates who “take the pledge” of “no new taxes” if elected. Why seek an office if your hands are already tied behind your back? Here are two candidates who are open to considering all options for equitably funding the needs of our state. Neither is accepting donations from big businesses or PACs.

Andru Volinsky is an extraordinary candidate for governor. He has spent much time over the past two years educating citizens about the inequity and inadequacy of New Hampshire’s means of funding public education, all while working diligently on the Executive Council.

Craig Thompson, a Harrisville farmer and small-business owner, as well as a first-term state representative, is running a grassroots campaign fueled by small donations, lots of postcard writing, and his energetic determination to address climate change, New Hampshire’s shamefully low minimum wage, and criminal justice reform. He is running for the seat on the Executive Council being vacated by Volinsky.

If we are to make meaningful progress on the critical issues of this time, such as equitable and adequate funding of public education, attracting young families to New Hampshire, climate change, growing income inequality, and the role of wealth in our political processes, we need to elect hard-working people who are not already pledged to uphold that income inequality.

Rep. SANDY SWINBURNE
