■Please note the City Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday (recognition of Labor Day holiday), Oct. 6 (city election day) and Nov. 3 (general election). If dropping off completed ballots, hand them directly to a clerk. Do not use the mail slot in the door. Request absentee ballots as soon as possible. Expect long lines for the clerk’s office. Please use online services whenever possible.

■The Scarecrow Contest is back this year. Park & Rec is looking for entries from local businesses, families and organizations to be displayed throughout the city. Entries should be ready by Oct. 8 and stay up until Halloween. Winners will be announced on Halloween with prizes for scariest, funniest, most beautiful, most creative and best use of natural materials. ■The TRIP Senior Center can provide pick-up meals on Mondays. A bag will include three frozen meals to be used as needed. These can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call 934-4151 to order and arrange a pick-up time.
■The Franklin Animal Shelter will remain open by appointment only until further notice. Donations will still be accepted during this time via franklinanimalshelter.com or in person. Check the shelter’s website for upcoming activities to support.
■Three Rivers Coalition will be at the Farmers’ Market/Concerts in the Park every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. You may pick up an application for an absentee ballot for the Oct. 10 city election or Nov. 3 general election. Ballot request forms for Sept. and Nov. are also available for downloading at sos.nh.gov. You can also call the City Clerk’s office (934-3109) to get your forms. When your ballot is completed, send it in right away.
■The Franklin Farmers’ Market will be held at Marceau Park every Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. through Sept. 29. Free children’s activities and recipe samples will be available. SNAP, debit and credit cards are accepted.
■The Franklin Public Library is now open by appointment Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons are offered 15 minutes of browsing at a time. For now, there are no public computers. Curbside service is still available Monday through Friday. Call 934-2911 for details.
