■The Allenstown School Board will hold two public forums to present information and seek input from the public on the proposed new school/building renovation. ■St. John the Baptist Church is offering breads of all kinds, some veggies, and more on the first weekend of every month. Food is free and available to anyone. A variety of breads will probably be a staple, but the rest will be a surprise. Seasonal efforts are placing candles at the Grange for the holidays; placing wreaths on all the public buildings and churches on Main Street. The Backpack Program’s goal is to provide a weekend’s supply of food for students when school breakfast and lunch are unavailable. ■The First Congregational Church of Pittsfield’s Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry has seen an increase in numbers since reopening in June. Your help is needed to assist many young struggling families. ■The Dorcas Guild of the First Congregational Church will hold its Christmas Fair and Bake Sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are knits, crafts, baked goods, the “Unique Boutique” and a silent auction. ■Sign-ups for Secret Santa for Christmas 2020 have begun. This program provides Christmas assistance for residents of Pittsfield in need. Children must be 14 years of age or under, must be residents of Pittsfield and the parent or guardian that signs them up must have custody of the child. Donations will be accepted until Nov. 30. Call 435-6807 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to apply. Program provides toys and winter clothing, and is fully funded by donations from local individuals and businesses. ■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for a new museum and headquarters. A commemorative garden on the museum grounds is being worked on. A “buy-a-brick” project affords an opportunity for people to buy a brick to honor yourself, loved ones, or whomever you wish to remember. ■The Webster Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization did an excellent job organizing the 1st Annual Pumpkin Parade. There were lots of decorated pumpkins for everyone to see and enjoy.
■The next Webster Elementary School Parent Teacher Meeting is scheduled for Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. This will be a virtual meeting.
■The Webster Conservation Commission is working with the Planning Board on a wetland and watershed quality protection project. Dan Moran, a member of the WCC, has produced a series of short videos highlighting the wetlands, vernal pools, swamps, marshes, rivers, and streams in Webster. These can be viewed on the WCC page on the town website.
■The Webster Congregational church thanks everyone who made their chicken barbecue dinner such a success. With the help of the Webster Fire Department the event brought in more money than was expected.
Dee Blake has volunteered to fill in for the vacant Select Board position until the March elections. This is the second year she has done this so if you see Dee, please thank her for her continued service to our town.
