Elizabeth A. Broussard and Roderick Steven Red Jr. were married Oct. 17 on the rooftop of the newly-renovated and historic Faulkner, now an events center in downtown Jackson, Miss., with well-managed pandemic safety protocol.
Pastors Kevin and Andrea Reid of Cityheart Church officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father, on behalf of both her parents. Flowers were by Little Bluestem Farm in Carthage, Miss., and bride’s gown was a Carol Hannah runway original from The Sentimentalist in Atlanta, Ga.
Ellen Desmond of Concord and Amy Hesslein Grant of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, both Concord High School graduates, served as co-maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Eleanor Poirier from Concord, sister of the bride, and Lauren Rhoades of Jackson, Miss.
John Dugard of Jackson, Miss., was the best man. Groomsmen were Karl Robinson of Jackson, Miss.; Jhermi Hooten of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Xavier Bolden of Cape Coral, Fla.
Ivy Red of Jackson, Miss., sister of the groom, and Evangeline Poirier of Concord, niece of the bride, served as flower girls.
The bride, daughter of Richard and Jemi Broussard of Concord, is a graduate of Cornell College. She is currently food justice coordinator for the National Center for Appropriate Technologies’ Gulf States Regional Office, where she coordinates a project to improve access to culturally appropriate food for historically disadvantaged communities in Mississippi, including Vietnamese and Choctaw Indians.
The groom, son of Johnetta Red and the late Roderick Red Sr. of Ridgeland, Miss., earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast production from the University of Southern Mississippi. He currently serves as CEO of Red Squared Productions, a multi-media company he founded in 2012.
The couple honeymooned at Blackberry Mountain Resort in Walland, Tenn., and currently resides in Jackson, Miss.
