CHICHESTERLibrary has kids programs online

■The Chichester Historical Society will meet at the museum from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.

■The Chichester Town Offices will close at noon on Thursday. Happy holidays to all!

■A note from The Chichester Heritage Commission:  Take a look at the beautiful tree in the center of the gazebo. That tree was donated by Carol Frekey-Harkness and John Harkness. Thanks to their son Jack for delivering it. The tree stand was donated by the Out of Your Attic Thrift Shop. Grange members Hannah West, Anne Boisvert and junior granger Rebecca Boisvert set the tree up. Trimming of the tree was done by Martha Reinhardt, Earline Burke and Lucille Noel. Thank you.

■If you are looking for something for the kids to do this week, go to the Chichester Town website, chichesternh.org, and click on “Departments.” Select “Library” and click on the library Facebook link. There you will find the librarian, Miss Caroline, reading stories and singing songs (with the kids joining in!). She is reading a story about a “Polar Bear” and “Because I Love You!”

■Good news: Evelyn Pike is resigning as town clerk, but she is staying on as tax collector until 2023!

■I am resigning as the correspondent for the Chichester Town Crier and need someone to step up and fill the position. It involves sending one email a week (by Wednesday evening or earlier) and researching the news.  If you are interested, please email me at alexsmeme@hotmail.com for details. Thank you.

PITTSFIELDProgram emergency AM radio station

■The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the Pittsfield Fire Department, Police Department and especially Santa Bob for helping to kick-off the holiday season in Pittsfield. Hopefully, everyone caught a glimpse of Santa as he paraded around town. Thank you also to Joe Darrah for installing the holiday banners, to Louie Houle for decorating the trees and to Fuzz Freese for decorating the Bandstand. Happy holidays to all!!

■The Town of Pittsfield, NH Emergency Management is proud to announce its acquisition of an information station AM transmitter from Beltronics of Nashua. In a recent tabletop exercise, conducted for the Town by the NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the difficulty of informing downtown residents of looming emergencies and preparatory actions during an event was noted. Pittsfield is a small community of about 4,000 citizens geographically located in the Suncook Valley of New Hampshire where, by its rural nature, cell phone coverage and other mechanisms of notification can make getting the word out a real challenge. The mobile AM transmitter product manufactured by theRADIOsource.com seemed to answer the communication problem facing the town. Pittsfield’s AM transmitter is operational on AM 1640. Remember to set a button on your radio so you can easily find this resource when the impact of local events affect you.

■There will not be a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at the First Congregational Church this year due to COVID-19. You can see a virtual service at pittsfieldcc.org on Thursday. May the blessings of this holy season be yours now and in the year ahead. Sunday services continue at 10 a.m.

■If you are a 501(c)(3), have you heard about the Globe Community Fund? Established by the former fourth-generation family owners of Globe Manufacturing Company in Pittsfield, the donor-advised fund is administered by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The fund’s purpose is to enhance community wellbeing with a focus on the towns of Pittsfield, Barnstead, Epsom, Northwood, Gilmanton and Chichester. For more information and an application, email the fund at GlobeCommunityFund@globefiresuits.com.

■Pittsfield Historical Society 2021 calendars may be purchased at Town Hall or the Josiah Carpenter Library for $15 each. The theme of the calendar is “Before & After” – 28 pictures of old buildings in town and how they have changed. For more information, contact Fuzz Freese at 848-4488.

■For the month of December, Pittsfield Elementary School PTO will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable community bBag at the Hannaford store located at 174 First NH Turnpike in Northwood.

■You can pre-order your PMHS or PES yearbook for the 2020-21 year at yearbookforever.com. This year’s PMHS book will be $50 and the PES book will be $17. The use of the online system for ordering is encouraged for convenience. There are options to add name stamps to personalize your book through the online system. This year’s class has come up with some creative ways to cover this year, even with a lack of events. If you are a parent/guardian of a high school senior or a fifth grader, please keep an eye out for email that will give you an option to put in a message for your graduating student. If you have any questions, please email yearbook advisor Jennifer Massey at jemassey@pittsfieldnhschools.org. Yearbooks will be out for distribution in June.

■The Pittsfield High School Alumni Association recently sent out its annual newsletter for its yearly request for donations to support the scholarships that are awarded each year to graduating seniors. If you did not receive a newsletter, please send your name and address to phsalumni@pittsfieldnhschools.org. Donations may be made by going to paypal.com and sending your donation to phsalumni@pittsfieldnhschools.org. Thank you in advance for supporting the PHS Alumni Association.

■Happy birthday wishes to Rich Hillsgrove on Sunday! A special happy birthday wish to my nephew, Tim Riel, on Wednesday. I hope you have a fabulous day!

■I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season. However you are able to spend your holidays this year, be safe, healthy and thankful!
