Joe Biden gives us the illusion that canceling the Keystone pipeline is good for the environment. Canceling the pipeline has no more positive effect on our environment than if it was still in use. That is because the oil from Canada will largely flow through other existing pipelines already constructed. This Canadian fuel that helped America become energy independent will still come to the United States.

The only thing the swipe of the president’s pen did by executive order is to kill thousands of jobs of hard-working American people.

John Kerry has said that the thousands of jobs lost by Biden’s order will be replaced by jobs to make sustainable energy. Kerry knows that this will not happen in the short run.

A 48-year-old welder will now have to sell his home, take his children out of school, and move to another state where he will be told there is no work for him because solar panels can be made cheaper in China.

Biden also betrayed the union leaders who endorsed him in the presidential campaign. Biden said he was going to “Build Back Better” and create more jobs in America. Terry O’Sullivan of the Laborers International Union said, “We support the president’s campaign to ‘build back better.’ But . . . killing good union jobs on day one, with nothing to replace them, is not building back better.”

Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO president, said, “It did and will cost us jobs in the process. I wish he had paired that more carefully with the thing that he did second by saying here’s where we’re creating jobs.”
