Remember when Republican lawmakers in Washington opposed sending stimulus relief money to cities and municipalities in “blue states” with severe, COVID-related budget problems because it would reward poor fiscal management.
Now comes Texas, with its do-it-yourself energy grid, about to receive federal disaster relief funds. Thousands of wind turbines and natural gas fired power plants in northern U.S. states and Canadian provinces like Alberta routinely operate in temperatures far colder than that experienced during the Texas cold snap. This was a disaster of their own manufacture.
Help the good citizens of Texas but demand accountability from those responsible for failing to acknowledge and plan for a changing climate.
