■“Missing Man Chair Presentation” will be held virtually on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall. Rich and Trish Caruso, along with members of Rolling Thunder N.H. Chapter 1, will be presenting a “Missing Man Chair” to the select board to be displayed in Town Hall and at town events to remember those who died in service and have not yet returned home from overseas. ■Chichester students are back to school this week after last week’s April vacation. Watch for children walking, playing or congregating near bus stops.

■Monday is the closing date for the Chichester Central School facilities maintenance/custodial manager position. SAU 53 office of administration has three openings that close on Friday: executive director of Pace Career Academy, school psychologist, and speech and language pathologist. ■The Chichester Conservation Commission will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

■The Chichester Historical Society is now open to the public every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop by and see the exceptional display of two floors of exhibits, plus a large collection of documents relating to the town. Masks are optional. Unique gifts are available. ■The board of selectmen will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Check chichesternh.org for the agenda.

■Tuesday is National Firefighters Day. Thank you to the members of the Chichester Fire Department who serve. The Chichester Fire Department keeps residents updated on the fire danger in the area. check out the Chichester Fire Department Facebook page for information. The department also meets every Monday night and welcomes visitors.

■Wednesday is National Astronaut Day. Sixty years ago on this date, Derry, N.H., resident Alan Shepard and his Freedon 7 spacecraft launched into space and came back 15 minutes later. The quick trip put future astronauts on a path to the moon and the International Space Station. Check out spotthestation.nasa.gov.

■The planning board will have a meeting on Thursday on Zoom. Visit chichesternh.org for information.

■National Nurses Week starts Thursday and runs through May 12. Thank you to our nurses who live in Chichester.

■The Chichester School District will have its annual meeting at the school on Saturday at 9 a.m. to discuss budget items and warrant articles.

■Town and school elections for choosing officers and answering zoning questions will be held May 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the school. Watch town announcements for a possible change in location. Absentee ballots are available from the town clerk. Call the town clerk at 798-5350 if you have any questions. A sample ballot is posted at Town Hall and at chichesternh.org.

■Any Chichester resident that needs help with rent, mortgage, childcare, food, medical bills, transportation or any other expenses can contact Granite United Way at graniteuw.org. Five thousand N.H. residents were helped by Granite United Way last year during COVID-19.

■Out of Your Attic Thrift Shop has many items great for Mother’s Day, such as gardening items, new cloth material, pocket books and kitchen supplies. Mother’s Day is May 9.

■Chichester resident and airplane pilot Rita Castonguay Hunt was featured on WMUR Channel 9’s “New Hampshire Chronicle” program, highlighting women pilots in New Hampshire. Rita is also a certified drone pilot and is on the board of the Hera Aviation Group. Congratulations to pilot Rita!

■Chichester resident Douglas Miner of the State of N.H. Forest and Land Division appeared on WMUR to speak on the combination of factors that affect the initiation, spread and difficulty containing wildfires in the area when high winds occur.

■Concord Visiting Nurses Association and Central NH Visiting Nurses Association have joined to form the Granite Visiting Nurses Association. For your home care and hospice service, contact 224-4093. Nearby offices are located in Concord and Laconia.

■Custom engraved town signs are available at a local business at 1009 Upper City Road in Pittsfield, next to Mike’s Meat Shoppe.

■May is National Bike Month. Residents enjoy biking on Chichester’s back roads. Please be cautious of bike riders when driving.

■The Chichester Firefighters Association has revived the Chichester Townwide Yard Sale. The event will be June 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are three ways to participate. 1) You can donate items to the association, which will sell them for you. 2) You can set up a sales spot at the fire station. 3) You can have a home yard sale and be listed on a map for $5. Check out the Chichester N.H. Firefighters Association Facebook page for more information.

■The Chichester Town Clerk’s Office can process new boat registrations and renewals. Make sure to bring in your renewal form that was sent to you in December by the state, or your last boat registration. Boat registrations must be done in person.

■Chichester cemeteries are open for vehicles. Please remember to remove old materials left from the fall. May is a busy month for cemeteries. Thank you for helping keep our cemeteries beautiful.

■Chris Egan, a N.H. Fish and Game conservation officer, Chichester native and 1989 graduate of Pembroke Academy, was injured in a snowmobile accident in January and continues to be on the mend and working to gain strength. Chris now lives in Pittsburg and is thankful for the support he has received from many friends and the viewers of Animal Planet’s “North Woods Law.” Best wishes to Chris from his Chichester hometown.

■Sympathy is extended to the family of Tracy P. Scott, who passed away on April 20. Tracy served on the Chichester Planning Board for many years.

■I wish to thank the Chichester residents who sent me congratulations cards for my retirement as chichester tax collector. I will cherish the friendships I have made during my 35-year tenure.

■State law requires that all dogs age four months and older be licensed each year. It’s already beyond the April 30 deadline, so keep in mind you will incur a $1 late fee per month beginning June 1. You can register your pup online at epsomnh.org. In-person are at the Town Clerk’s Office are Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m., Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the last Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon. You can also register online as long as you have your current information.

■The Epsom Board of Selectmen will have a meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Town Meeting Room at 940 Suncook Valley Highway. Meetings are open to the public. If you would like to be placed on the agenda to discuss a particular matter, contact the staff at the selectmen’s office. There is also time at the end of each meeting for public comments, as well as any other business brought before the board.

■The Webster Park Commission meeting will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Town Meeting Room.

■Epsom Public Library is open for curbside pickup only. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 1-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

■Concord-Epsom Elks Lodge 1210 will be hosting its monthly outdoor flea market on May 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Market will be held rain or shine! There will also be a plant sale table with proceeds going to Live & Let Live Farm in Chichester. ■The Pittsfield School District School Board is currently seeking letters of interest for two seats on the Pittsfield School Board for terms that will end March 2022. Please submit letters of interest to the Pittsfield SAU office, 23 Oneida St., Pittsfield, NH 03263, no later than Monday at 3 p.m. This will allow time for the current board members to review letters for the Thursday board meeting.

■American Legion Peterson Cram Post #75 will meet on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

■The Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry, through the First Congregational Church will be open on Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. Please call 435-7471 when you arrive in the parking lot. Please use the parking lot off Chestnut Street. Clients will not be able to enter the church at this time. Weather permitting, your diapers and wipes will be put in a bag with your name attached and placed on a table in the parking lot. If weather does not permit this, your products will be brought to you.

■The PMHS Tuition Study Committee invites all community members to a community forum on Saturday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Pittsfield Middle High School lecture hall. The purpose of the forum is for the tuition study committee to present information and seek input. This forum will be a unique opportunity for the community. All community members are encouraged to attend and participate! Masks and social distancing will be required.

■Rise Again Outreach will be at Joy Church, 55 Barnstead Road, on Saturday from 9-10:15 a.m. Joy Church will provide a free community breakfast from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

■Pittsfield Youth Baseball/Softball Association would like to invite you to join in a Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast on May 9. Let PYBA board members do the cooking for you and your family. ■Do you have a policeman, fireman or someone in the military that you would like to recognize? The Peterson-Cram American Legion Post 75 will be holding a “Field of Honor” to recognize all these heroes. Each flag will have a ribbon on top to symbolize the service of the person being recognized – blue for police, red for fire and white for military. Each flag and ribbon is $3 and will fly from May 16-June 1 in front of the Pittsfield Police Department. All proceeds will go towards a scholarship for a graduating Pittsfield Middle High School student. ■The Pittsfield Players return! The Pittsfield Players will be reopening the scenic theatre on May 21-22 at 7 p.m. The new season will open with two short one-act plays by David Ives, “Sure Thing” and “The Philadelphia.” Pittsfield Players will also be introducing a world premiere of “First Time,” a short skit written by Earnhardt Dail. Tickets are $12 and will be limited for the live performance in the theatre. Tickets are available through ticketleap.com or can be reserved by calling 435-8852. Seating will be separated for safety and masks will be required in the theatre. The show will also be livestreamed for the same ticket price. The production is sponsored by Iron Dragon of Pittsfield. ■PYW has been open for several weeks and things have been going great! Program activities will continue to look different, but youth will continue having fun while staying safe and healthy! Programs will be scheduled monthly and each day will have an organized activity, or youth may choose an activity of their liking. Each afternoon a snack and drink will be provided. Masks will need to be worn in the building at all times except when eating. Currently, youth are not required to register ahead of time for each day of programming, but that may need to be implemented due to space regulations. A friendly reminder to all families that membership and program fees for the 2021 school year will be waived to insure all youth will have the opportunity to participate in PYW activities!
