■The Chichester Police Department is warning residents of several thefts in town. Please do not call the police station and leave messages on matters that need immediate response. If something does not look right, call 911 or dispatch at 225-5006.

■Chichester residents who have been impacted financially due to COVID-19 can get help. The CDC moratorium for evictions ends this weekend, but rental, fuel, or utilities assistance is available through the Community Action Program (225-3295), NH Assistant Program (211) or the Chichester Welfare Department (call Donna Stockman at 798-3278). The Chichester Food Pantry is available when town hall is open (798-5350).

■The Chichester Conservation Committee will meet at Town Hall on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

■The Chichester Board of Adjustment will be meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall to hear an appeal. The agenda is available at chichesternh.org.

■Chichester Old Home Day is Aug. 20-21. Many activities are being planned. Plan to attend Marden’s Famous Bean Hole and the pig roast on Aug. 21.

■Chichester Central School starts classes on Aug. 30 and has arranged two offsite locations for after school care – the Concord Boys and Girls Club (410-5176) and The Learning Tree in Epsom (736-0037). Space may be limited, so don’t wait to contact them. The Chichester Central School health office will be looking for information before your child attends the first day of school. ■Winding Wicks Farm exhibited at the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds at the New England Sheep Show. The farm won supreme champion white yearling ewe and grand champion colored ram. Look for the farm at fairs in New Hampshire this summer.

■Sympathy is extended to the family of Marion Mobbs who recently passed away. Marion and her husband Oliver, known as Butch, were married for 50 years. They were known as natives in Chichester, they enjoyed visiting friends and never missed an old home day.

■Condolences are sent to the family of Irene Derosier. Irene taught art at Chichester Central School and inspired many students to follow in her footsteps.

■The Town of Chichester lost a valuable asset in the passing of Joan Callahan. Joan leaves a legacy by assisting our town as Concord Welfare Director, as an assistant at Pembroke Academy and serving on the board of the Capital Region Food Program.

■Chichester’s longtime friend Theodore Bailey passed away on July 21. Ted was raised and educated in Chichester and remained a longtime resident. He was a life member of the Chichester Fire Department, joining in 1948. He was the oldest living member of the department and rose to the rank of captain for 20 years. Ted served on many town committees and served on the board of selectmen for several years. Ted will be remembered for his love of Chichester, his many stories, his genuine big heart and fantastic sense of humor.

■Supervisors of the checklist will hold a work session on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the Epsom Town Offices. The supervisors will be accepting applications for new voter registration and change of political party. Supervisors are Nancy Claris, Terry Riel and Elizabeth Bosiak.

■Epsom Public Library will hosting Mary Dawson Forensics 4Kids “Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar” on Monday 6:30 p.m. This is hands-on exploration and participants will examine different patterns of fingerprints using magnifying glasses, magnetic dusting powder and brushes as well as the different types of DNA. Participants will take home an identification card with their own handprint. For ages 5-10 but younger/older siblings are welcome. Class is limited to 20 so sign up is required! This program will be at the historic Odd Fellows Hall in Epsom. Masks will be required with social distancing.

■Tuesday night’s family movie night will feature “Raya” (rated PG) at 6:30 p.m. at Epsom Public Library. Snacks and drinks will be provided! Masks will be required with social distancing in family groups. The movie will be shown in the library meeting room. ■“Finding Science in Folktales” is a virtual program presented by the Children’s Museum of NH and is available through Aug. 19. The program offers a trip around the world as participants investigate animal science through folktales and legends. ■The Library Summer Reading Program “Tails & Tales” runs through Aug. 17. Please visit the library to pick up a full program description. Story hours for families of preschool children will take place at the Town Pool at 10 a.m on Thursday. Activities for school age children will be provided on alternate Wednesday mornings at the Drake Field Recreation program.

■Josiah Carpenter Library’s new StoryWalk featuring “Down By the Sea with Mr. Magee,” by Chris Van Dusen is available for your viewing pleasure. Book pages have been mounted in 18 windows throughout the downtown area, so gather up your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy a stroll through town. Families are encouraged to grab a map from the mailbox that is attached to the new community bulletin board at Dustin’s Park. As you return to the library on Main Street to read the last page of the book, stop in to pick up a free gift donated by No Worry Storage.

■The Josiah Carpenter Library is the recipient of $1,452 in grant funding thanks to the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the New Hampshire State Library. The grant will support the library’s offering of indoor, in-person programs such as story hour for families with young children. Using the grant funds, the library purchased a clean air curtain which provides high velocity air cleansing through both HEPA filtration and ultraviolet light. ■The FB Argue Recreation Area is open for the season. The hours for the summer are Monday through Friday from 12-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. If your child will be coming to the pool alone without an adult, parents will be asked to provide contact information. The daily admission for residents is $1 per person. A family season pass may be bought for $50. Daily admission for non-residents will be $1.50 per person. All persons entering the area will be expected to pay. Children under 5 will be admitted free with a paid adult. Use of beach toys will be allowed this year. They will be disinfected each night. The concession stand will be open. Please observe social distancing when possible. State guidelines will be followed when applicable. “Adult Only” mornings are being planned so they can enjoy the area, play lawn games, swim and socialize with other adults without the children being there. These will be Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. If there is enough interest, there might be adult only nights. Call 290-4068 or 435-7457 during hours of operation.

■The following programs are occurring at the Pittsfield Senior Center: bingo (every Monday and Thursday at 10 a.m., $1 to play), chair yoga (every Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.), cribbage and game day (every Wednesday at 10 a.m.), virtual bowling (every Friday at 10 a.m.), a center cookout (July 19 at noon, reservations required by Friday) and jigsaw puzzle competition (July 20 at 10 a.m.). Don’t forget that you can pick up hot, freshly made meals for curbside pickup on Thursdays. Space is limited at all events and masks are required.
