An Evening of Opera

What: With a nod to its history, the Lakeport Opera House will premier an evening with two world renowned opera singers, Meredith Hansen and Sandra Piques Eddy. As the first opera show in over 60 years, the night will feature arias and duets from the most iconic operas and songs from the “Golden Age” of American musical theatre bringing the venue back to its 140-year-old roots.

Hood Museum Reopens

What: The fall exhibit will be Jaune Quick-to-See Smith’s “Trade Canoe: Forty Days and Forty Nights.” It is part of her well-known Trade Canoe series, which she began in 1992 as a critical response to quincentennial celebrations of Columbus’s arrival to the “New World.” Lectures, gallery talks, workshops, and other in-person and virtual programming are planned for the fall.

When: Starting Aug. 4, hours will be Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. A reopening celebration will be held Sept. 18, 1 to 4 p.m.
