■The DAR will hold its  Annual Vesper Service on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Old Allenstown Meeting House. 

■The following activities are being held at the Suncook Senior Center: Bone Builders (Monday and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m.), bingo (Monday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.), Cribbage Club (Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon), Tops Troup (Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon, call Dorin at 508-269-7872), Coffee Hour (Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.) and Klunk (Thursday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.).

■Mark Stainzer will perform live music on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Suncook Senior Center.

■A free concert with Crazy Steve and Friends at the Allenstown Town Hall Lawn will be on Aug. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. The band plays everything from folk, pop, rock, and classic rock. The Allenstown Economic Development thanks Hillsbrook Village for sponsoring this concert. There will be refreshments and lots of fun. Bring your blanket and chairs.

CHICHESTERCircus fun at church

■The Hope in Christ Church will be having a circus adventure time in its parking lot on Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You will meet lions and tamers, clowns, and a ringmaster to present the occasion of vacation bible school. Arts, crafts, games, snacks and prizes will be included in the fun. Contact 798-4220 for information. 

■The Road Advisory Committee will meet Monday at the town shed. Jason Weir is the designated selectman for the committee. 

■The board of selectmen will meet Tuesday at Town Hall at 6 p.m. The agenda is posted chichesternh.org

■The Chichester School Board will have a retreat on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Ben Brown on Bear Hill Road. On Wednesday, the school board will hold a meeting at the school at 6 p.m. and will discuss draft plans for the school opening on Aug. 30.

■Chichester Parks and Recreation Committee will meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Carpenter Park.

■The Chichester Library will be having a music mix workshop for teens on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. with door prizes. Learn how to mix music with computer software, taught by an audio production teacher. Call 798-5613 to register. There are only six spots available for ages 13-18.

■ The Out of Your Attic Thrift Store will be having its annual backpack delivery day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Requests will be taken ahead of time and school supplies will be available.

■Moms Meet Up will meet on Aug. 16 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on the playground at Hope In Christ Church. All moms are welcome.

■Old Home Day is Aug. 20 and  Aug. 21. The OHD Committee has been working hard to give everyone a wonderful day. Check the Chichester Old Home Days Facebook page. 

■It’s time to think about the Chichester Central School fall soccer registration. Email athletic director Tony Cipriano at acipriano@sau 53.org to sign up.  

■Chichester School has announced the following new teachers for the beginning of the new year. Carrie White (grade 1), Jessica Martucci (grade 3), Mollie Morisette (grade 4) and Kimberly Green (special education case manager). 

■The Chichester PTO has many plans for the new school year. Agenda includes: back to school BBQ, raffle calendar and a Yankee Candle fundraiser. Visit the Chichester Central School PTO page on Facebook. The PTO is looking for volunteers to help with these events.

■Chichester resident Angelo Besho was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Rochester Institute of Technology. Elizabeth Donzello-Jewell was named to the dean’s list at Saint Michael College.

■The Chichester Police Department has received several fireworks complaints. Chichester has no fireworks ordinance and can only fall back on the disorderly conduct statute, meaning loud and unreasonable noise. After discussion with the town prosecutor, the consensus is that fireworks up until 10 p.m. is reasonable. If someone wants to press charges after 10 p.m., a court can decide what is unreasonable. Chichester Police Chief Clarke can be contacted at 798-4911 with questions and concerns. If you think the town should have an ordinance to regulate noise, reach out to the board of selectmen to start the process for initiating the ordinance. 

■Congratulations to Sean Matousak for appearing in a video for Four Corners Farm. Sean is a Chichester farrier and was shown shoeing horses using the hot shoe method at the farm. 

■Thanks to Patricia Hauck for working with the Epsom Lion Club and the Loudon Lion Club, in cleaning up the arts and craft building at the NH Lions Camp Pride to get it ready for summer campers.

■Winding Wicks Farm traveled to the Indiana Youth Sheep Show Expo and came home with the honors of being named the Supreme Champion Ewe with their natural colored yearling. 

■Chichester Library has put together mental health resources for the community. Resources include flyers, pamphlets, DVDs and books for those struggling with mental health, caregivers, and those who wish to understand the challenges of mental health. 

■Do you have Hoopla? Stop by the library and find out how you can sign up. It’s free and offers music, movies, books and more. 

■Miss Caroline, the library director, is a DJ and has a show on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. on WNHN 94.7 in Concord.

EPSOMLibrary selling mums

■ A board of selectmen meeting will be on Monday at 6 p.m. in the meeting room.

■A planning board meeting will be on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room. There are two public hearings scheduled: one at 7 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room.

■Library happenings: Teen/tween sidewalk chalk art (Monday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), Bone Builder (Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m.), Storytime & Movie Matinee (Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.) and a trustee meeting (Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.).

■Join the library on Friday late afternoon for Dinner & a Good Old-Fashioned Cookout. There will be live music by Fuzz Box, cornhole, smores, popcorn and storytime for the kids.

■Epsom Friends of the Library Annual Mums Sale is on! Stop by the library to order your red, yellow, white, lavender and bronze mums. Cost is one mum for $8 or five for $35. This is the Friends of the Library’s biggest fundraiser of the year. You can also order mums at Old Home Day on Saturday.

■Saturday will be the Old Home Day parade with floats and a kids’ decorated bike contest. There will be kid games, pony rides, a petting zoo, a draft horse show and a K-9 show. There will also be food, vendors, a dunk tank, climbing wall, bouncy slide, raffles and 50/50, stage performances and demos. A Ham & Bean Dinner will be at 4:45 p.m., as well as a live band until 8:30 p.m. The fireworks start at Epsom Community School at dusk. Don’t forget your non-perishable food items to donate to the Epsom Food Pantry!

■On Aug. 15 there will be a road race/walk sponsored by Delta Dental, performances by New Rye Church Hymns, and a resident yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■An enthusiastic group of people is planning a community night out to be held Sept. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Dustin Park. The event will begin with the PMHS homecoming parade and end with an outdoor movie sponsored by Suncook Valley Rotary Club. If your business, church, or organization wants to participate, you’re invited to a planning meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the town beach on Clark Street (rain location is Town Hall). ■Watercolor Sundays at Graylag Nature Preserve are on Aug. 15 and Aug. 22 (rain date is Aug. 29) from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Paint outdoors in nature with guidance from experienced painter and instructor Kathy Hanson. These watercolor workshops will take advantage of Graylag’s beautiful setting with views of Wild Goose Pond and the woods, wetlands, rocks, and plants around it. Each day will begin with a demonstration by the instructor on how to choose a view and a palette of colors, as well as helpful techniques appropriate to the subject. Then you will work on your own painting, with help from the instructor as needed. Participants should have some watercolor painting experience and will receive a materials list that includes set-up needs for outdoor painting. Bring your own lunch. Sign up for one or more days. ■The Year Rounders candlepin bowling league is looking for new men and women to join teams. Bowlers play three strings at Boutwells Bowling Center in Concord on Thursdays starting Sept. 2 at 11:30 a.m. and continuing weekly into May. The cost is just $13 with $1.50 going towards a late spring banquet. This is a friendly, non-serious competition with people who enjoy bowling and sharing good times with friends. ■Concord Regional Crimeline is holding its annual fundraiser to raise funds to pay tipsters who call in with information on criminals. Here is a chance to win $1,000 for a donation of $25. ■Josiah Carpenter Library’s new StoryWalk featuring “Down By the Sea with Mr. Magee,” by Chris Van Dusen is available for your viewing pleasure. Book pages have been mounted in 18 windows throughout the downtown area, so gather up your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy a stroll through town. Families are encouraged to grab a map from the mailbox that is attached to the new community bulletin board at Dustin’s Park.  As you return to the library on Main Street to read the last page of the book, stop in to pick up a free gift donated by No Worry Storage. 

■The Josiah Carpenter Library is the recipient of $1,452 in grant funding thanks to the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the New Hampshire State Library. The grant will support the library’s offering of indoor, in-person programs such as story hour for families with young children. Using the grant funds, the library purchased a clean air curtain which provides high velocity air cleansing through both HEPA filtration and ultraviolet light. ■There is community dining at the Pittsfield Senior Center on Mondays and Thursdays at noon.. Please register by Monday the week before, so meals can be planned accordingly. Pick up a menu, circle what you would like, and give it to Carol. Pick up is between 11 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursdays, but another more convenient time can be arranged. You can also eat lunch at the center and take a frozen meal home for later.

■The following programs are occurring at the Pittsfield Senior Center: bingo (every Monday and Thursday at 10 a.m., $1 to play), chair yoga (every Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.), cribbage and game day (every Wednesday at 10 a.m.), virtual bowling (every Friday at 10 a.m.), a center cookout (July 19 at noon, reservations required by Friday) and jigsaw puzzle competition (July 20 at 10 a.m.). Space is limited at all events and masks are required. Call the center at 435-8482 to reserve your spot in activities. 

■As programming opens back up at the Pittsfield Senior Center, there is a need for volunteers. Volunteers are needed for activities at different days and times. Training is provided. If interested, please call 435-8482.

■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for a new museum and headquarters. A commemorative garden on the museum grounds is being worked on. A “buy-a-brick” project affords an opportunity for people to buy a brick to honor yourself, loved ones, or whomever you wish to remember. The bricks will be sold for $100 each and may be engraved with three lines of 18 characters each for a 4-inch by 8-inch brick. Visit pittsfieldhistory.com for a donation form and instructions.
